Meet The Deficit 2. Less logging. More living.

The original The Deficit answered one question: how do the calories you eat compare with the energy you burn? Version 2 keeps that overview and adds something that makes the input easier: an AI agent that can log food from your words and photos.
Your food log starts with a sentence
Tap the microphone, say what you ate, and send the recording. You can include several foods, a brand and a portion in the same request. The agent turns the request into entries you can see and edit. If you know the amount, say it. If you do not, the agent can estimate rather than making every meal a weighing exercise.
That is what we mean by agentic food tracking: the agent does the steps needed to create or change your food log, rather than only explaining how you could do it yourself. It can use saved foods, look up nutrition information when needed and ask a question when the request is genuinely unclear.
Food tracking, right on your wrist
The Apple Watch app has its own sign-in, meal log and voice entry. With an internet connection, you can dictate food from your wrist and see the saved meal on your other signed-in devices. A live conversation is also available; short dictation is the simpler choice for everyday logging.
Point the camera at a label—or at lunch
A readable nutrition label provides a basis for portion calculations. A photo of a plated meal provides a basis for an estimate. They are different jobs, and the distinction matters. You can review and correct the result in the food log.
The overview is still here
The Deficit connects with Apple Health to show intake, resting and active energy, exercise and your balance over time. If you prefer logging in another app that writes nutrition to Apple Health, you can turn off The Deficit’s calorie tracking and keep using its overview.
Start free, use AI when it helps
The overview and manual entries remain available without spending AI credits. AI dictation, chat, photo analysis, web searches and live conversations use credits. New accounts receive a starting allowance; additional credit packs are available through in-app purchase. Your balance syncs across your devices.
Try one meal. Say what you know, check what was logged, and get back to your day.
